AIM

The overall aim of nursing program is to prepare a graduate Nurse to work as frontline worker in the clinical , community field and educational arena.

  • Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives at basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
  • Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical / public health setting Courses run by the College
About

On completion of Post–Basic B.Sc. degree Program the graduates will be able to:

  • Assess health status, identify nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients / clients that contribute to health of individuals, families and communities.
  • Demonstrate competency in techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles from selected areas of nursing, physical, biological and behavioral sciences
  • Participate as members of health team in the promotive, preventive, curative and restorative health care delivery system of the country.
  • Demonstrate skills in communication and interpersonal relationship.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision–making abilities in various situations.
  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in community health settings.
  • Demonstrate managerial skills in community health settings.
  • Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.
  • Participate in research activities and utilize research findings in improving nursing practice.

Course of Study

Duration : The B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) course of study shall extend over a period of 2 academic years from the date of commencement of his/her study of the subjects. Terms and vacations shall be as notified by the university from time to time.

Age

Age limit 48 years of 31st December of the year of admission.

Academic Focus

The programmes in Nursing are designed to prepare the students to assume responsibility in primary, secondary and tertiary care of people and be ready for advanced practice in Nursing in various speciality areas such as Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing, etc. The advanced study programmes enable the students with deeper knowledge and gives them hands-on experience to help them through evidence based practice which help them groom as independent practitioners.

Internal Assessment :

Regular periodic assessment shall be conducted throughout the course. The test preceding the university examination will be similar to the pattern of university examination. Average of the marks of the three tests for theory and practical separately shall be sent to the university.

Scheme of Examination :

The university shall conduct two examinations annually at an interval of not less than 4 to 6 months as notified by the university from time to time. A candidate who satisfies the requirement of attendance, progress and conduct as stipulated by the university shall be eligible to appear for the university examination and the prescribed fee.
