AIM

The overall aim of nursing program is to prepare a graduate Nurse to work as frontline worker in the clinical , community field and educational arena.

  • Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives at basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
  • Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical / public health setting Courses run by the College
About

M.Sc. Nursing (2 years)

  • Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine, including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
  • Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups
  • Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.
  • Practice as a nurse specialist.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as nurse educator and manager.
  • Demonstrate skill in conducting nursing research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health related research.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in nursing practice and in the health care delivery system.
  • Establish collaborative relationship with members of other disciplines
  • Demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement
  • Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care..
  • Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.
  • Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.

Entry Requirement

Basic B.Sc. Nursing with 1 year experience in Hospital or Nursing Educational Institutions or Community Health setting or Post B.Sc. Nursing degree at University level accepted as equivalent by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka holding a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwifery Certificate from the local Council (Psychiatry for Male candidates) with 55% marks in aggregate

Assessment

The students are assessed based on the clinical training, assignments, seminars, presentations, conducting conferences, workshop, internal examinations and the term end examinations

Job Prospects

Nursing offers opportunities from bedside practice to the President or top Administrator of a healthcare organization. Nurse are also appointed and elected to influential government positions. A Master’s Degree in Nursing program prepares for Leadership, Management and more independent roles, such as clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner, educator, consultants and researcher are just a few examples of the variety of opportunities awaiting in wide range of professional settings.

Successful graduates can look forward to working as Clinical Nurse Specialist / Nursing Administrators in Private and Government Hospital and are eligible, as Lecturer / Asst. Professors in Educational Institution.
